Becoming Van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh’s Wheatfield under thunderclouds – 1890 at Van Gogh Museum

After a year and a half, I feel comfortable allowing myself to start getting excited for the “Becoming Van Gogh” exhibit which opens at the Denver Art Museum on October 20th.  (I have fond childhood memories of re-creating his Card Players series).  Featuring 70+ drawings and paintings from over 60 public and private collections across North America and Europe, the significance of the DAM’s hosting of this exhibition should not be under-estimated. More specifically, it will focus on some of the earlier, more formative periods in the artist’s, largely self-taught career.

The folks at the DAM have been doing a solid job of keeping their followers abreast to the planning that’s going into this, including a piece about how the galleries themselves are being prepped.  Stay tuned and plan ahead as you’ll definitely need tickets for this.
